Viral post says Hillary Clinton is praising Trump’s second term. The fuller context is narrower

WASHINGTON — A viral social media post claims Hillary Clinton is now praising President Donald Trump and saying he is “much better in his second term.” But the clip being shared this week does not appear to be a broad endorsement of Trump or his presidency. Instead, it comes from an interview published in August 2025 about Russia, Ukraine and the possibility of a negotiated peace deal.

The resurfaced clip traces back to an Aug. 15, 2025 episode of the podcast “Raging Moderates with Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov” titled How Trump Could Win a Nobel Peace Prize (ft. Hillary Clinton). According to the episode description, Clinton discussed how Trump might help end Russia’s war in Ukraine, along with broader foreign-policy questions and concerns about Trump’s consolidation of power at home.

That timing matters because the clip circulating now is not from this week. X’s own trending summary described it as Hillary Clinton’s 2025 Praise for Trump’s Foreign Policy Resurfaces,” and said the 37-second video came from an earlier interview in which Clinton was talking about improved working relationships that could support European and Ukrainian security.

The narrower point Clinton was making appears to have been about one possible area of overlap: whether Trump could use his desire for a diplomatic legacy to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin and help end the war. A contemporaneous write-up of the interview said Clinton floated a “dream scenario” in which Trump could help bring peace to Ukraine and potentially win the Nobel Peace Prize he has long wanted.

So the viral framing overreaches. The available sourcing does not show Clinton broadly saying Trump is doing a better job across the board in his second term. It shows her discussing one foreign-policy scenario where she believed there might be room for “common ground” if Trump chose to confront Putin rather than accommodate him.

That is also consistent with Clinton’s larger posture in the same interview. The podcast description says she also warned about the risks of Trump’s “accelerating consolidation of power at home,” which cuts against the idea that she had suddenly become an overall admirer of his second-term presidency.

So, yes, Clinton did make comments that sounded unusually positive about a possible Trump move on Ukraine, and those comments are real. But the viral claim leaves out that the clip is months old, focused on a specific diplomatic question, and does not amount to a blanket endorsement of Trump’s second term.
