Man Says He Started Getting Packages He Didn’t Order — Then One Delivery Made Him Realize Someone Was Using His Address for Something Bigger

A man on Reddit said it started with a single package showing up at his house with a name he didn’t recognize. He assumed it was just a delivery mistake and left it by the door for a day or two, thinking someone might come by to pick it up. When no one did, he forgot about it.

According to his post, more packages started arriving over the next couple of weeks. Different sizes, different shipping labels, but always the same unfamiliar name. At that point, it stopped feeling like a simple mistake.

He said he contacted the delivery company, but they told him there wasn’t much they could do since the address on the label matched his house. He also tried returning a few packages, but new ones kept coming.

The situation escalated when someone finally showed up.

He said a man came to his door asking for one of the packages by name. The man acted casual, like it was a normal pickup, and claimed there had been a mix-up with the address. Something about the interaction felt off, though. The man seemed more focused on getting the package quickly than explaining anything.

That was when the homeowner decided to look inside one of the unopened boxes.

He said what he found didn’t make sense. The contents didn’t match what you’d expect from a normal order—items were either mismatched, repackaged, or looked like they had been sent through multiple stops. It gave him the impression the packages weren’t being delivered for personal use.

After that, he stopped handing anything over.

When another person showed up asking for a delivery, he refused and said they needed to contact the shipping company instead. According to him, the person became irritated and pushed back, insisting it was easier if he just handed it over. That only made him more suspicious.

He said the pattern continued—packages arriving, different people asking about them, and vague explanations that never quite added up. At that point, he started documenting everything, including tracking numbers and dates.

Eventually, he contacted local authorities.

He said they took the situation seriously once he explained how often it was happening and how many different people had come by asking for packages tied to his address. From what he understood, using someone else’s address like that could be part of a larger scheme, especially if the goal was to avoid linking deliveries back to a specific person.

By the end of his post, he said the deliveries had slowed down after he stopped cooperating and reported what was happening. But the experience left him uneasy. What started as a simple wrong delivery turned into something that made him question how easily his address had been used without him knowing—and how long it might have kept going if he hadn’t started paying attention.
