Man Says His Brother Asked Him To Pay for a Destination Bachelor Trip — Then Told Him He Couldn’t Bring His Wife

A Reddit user shared that he was excited when his brother asked him to be part of the wedding, but things got complicated once the bachelor trip plans came together. In the post, he said the groom wanted a destination trip that would require flights, lodging, and several days off work. He wrote that he was already stretching his budget to make it happen, but figured it was part of showing up for his brother.

According to the post, the issue came up when he asked whether his wife could come along for the trip. He said he was not expecting her to be included in the bachelor party activities themselves, just to travel with him and stay nearby so they could spend some time together outside of the planned events. Instead, he said his brother shut the idea down completely and told him the trip was meant to be strictly for the guys.

That is when the situation started to feel off to him. He said he was being asked to spend a significant amount of money and time to attend, but at the same time was being told he had to leave his wife behind entirely. In the post, he explained that the trip was not a quick weekend drive. It involved real travel and expenses, which made the restriction feel harder to justify.

He wrote that he tried to bring it up again, but the answer did not change. The expectation was that if he wanted to be part of the bachelor trip, he would go alone and follow the plan as it was set. That left him stuck between wanting to support his brother and feeling uncomfortable with the way the situation was being handled.

The post did not describe a big argument blowing up right away. It read more like someone realizing that what started as a simple yes to being involved in the wedding had turned into something with more conditions than expected. He said he was now questioning whether it made sense to go at all under those terms.
